AboutTikves Wine Tourism

The Republic of Macedonia remains one of Europe’s last undiscovered wine countries: a natural paradise of vineyards, mountains, lakes and rivers, where life moves to a different rhythm, amidst the sprawling grandeur of rich historical ruins and idyllic villages that have remained practically unchanged for centuries. Even though Macedonian wines might be new to many people, wine is not at all new to Macedonia. The country situated in the middle of Balkan Peninsula has been making wines from Ancient times. In this area, the vine used to be cultivated even 4,000 years ago.

Countless hardworking and skillful wine-growers from the past and the present have been part of the birth of the long winemaking tradition in our country, especially in the region of Tikveš. Tikves Winery is one of the most important creators of this tradition. For more than 135 years, the sky, land, sun and vineyards in the south of Europe, each with its own share, have been a part of the story about Tikves wines. Tikveš explores the old vineyards to discover wines that cannot be created anywhere else in the world. We have trroirs locations that are of utmost importance in Europe, differing greatly in a very distinguished way from the terroirs in the other important wine-producing countries, such as Italy, France and Spain.

We at Tikveš Winery have embarked on a new course to recreate the Macedonian wine story, through its history. As the largest, but also one of the most modern wineries in South-Eastern Europe, we have consciously taken a leading role in the wine industry in the region, on the way of worldwide recognition of our wines. For all those wishing to know more about the culture of producing and enjoying wine, our oenologists are always willing to show you and tell you everything about what we are most proud of the wine. Lepovo I Barovo vineyards can offer you unforgettable experiences and memories full of specific aromas of terroir.

Tikveš Winery offers a complete enjoyment for those who wish to explore the beauties of the Tikves wine region complemented by culture, tradition and untouched nature. It features rolling vineyards, lakes, caves and mountains, plus archaeological sites and churches. Wine locations to feel the sunrise and sunset, enjoy the nature and experiences various adventures including bike tours, mountain and canyon hiking, grape harvesting, wine producing, tasting home-made traditional food and drinks and much more…It’s especially beautiful at dusk, when the fading sunlight suffuses soft hills laden with millions of grapes.
